The PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club can reasonably stake a claim to being the area’s most player-friendly layout. From Myrtle Beach’s most convenient location to a course designed to provide players of all skill levels an enjoyable challenge, PineHills is a Grand Strand institution.
The course is open off the tee, allowing golfers to hit driver but not requiring them to do so. One of PineHills’ charms is the way it rewards players for being in the proper spot in the fairway, giving you a choice, a few more yards off the tee or the preferred angle on approach?
PineHills, which enjoyed a 1993 redesign by Arthur Hills, is highlighted by it’s undulating greens complexes, which reward precision, and its two finishing holes. The 17th is a short par 3, playing just 153 yards from the tips, but water lurks in front of and to the right of a green that plays into the prevailing ocean breeze.
The 403-yard 18th challenges players to split a fairway with water on the left and bunkers to the right. It’s an ideal finish to a very enjoyable round of golf.
